most comments here by people that have NEVER owned one, I had 3 over 21 years, did more than 40,000 miles, never had ANY worrying moments! I started driving it carefully believing myself that it goes over on corners! but as I gained confidence drove it faster, it does lean to the side a bit as it has soft suspension in the rear, but by myself , or with my Mum n Dad n dog in, lovely to drive! unless your a nutter who drives like a sports car driver all the time! I was well happy on a motorbike licence with my 3 wheelers! did everything I wanted! in short, you drive to suit your vehicle, no problems then!

The Reliant Robin makes for nostalgic comedy among the British. But in the U.S. Americans would be aghast at the death trap the British government allowed on its roads. Now we Yanks understand why the tricycle car never became accepted in the U.S. The traditional delta design is inherently unstable. The tadpole design places two wheels at the front and is far more stable. Tadpole design cars never took off. The three wheel Spyder enjoys a small level of success but it is marketed as a three-wheel motorcycle. Decades ago several American police departments experimented with delta tri-motorcycles for solo police officers. A notable case was the Honolulu Police Department. The HPD modeled itself closely after the highly trained, organized and well equipped Los Angeles Police Department. The HPD used the beefy-appearing trikes throughout the 1970s, especially in the city of Honolulu where its small size was convenient. But going into the 1980s reports increased of the trikes turning over when cops made high speed turns. Subsequently all police motor tricycles were withdrawn from service. So risky were the trikes deemed, the now surplus trikes were not even sold to the public. The HPD would not even consider tadpole trikes nor quad-trikes. The American response to tri-cars is, why bother? Just purchase a small car. Yet the delta tr-car remains popular in the Far East and India, although not so much anymore in northeast Asian countries. Back in the 1960s visitors to Japan could see lots of delta private tri-cars and service tri-cars and trucks plying the roads and streets of Tokyo and the vast metro and suburban areas around the city.
